natural bridge wildlife ranch.

husband and i spent the afternoon at the wildlife ranch in san antonio. we fed animals  through the window of our jeep. we even had an ostrich traffic jam. amazing. have a wonderful weekend! next week will be all about music we heard live at sxsw.

downtown san antonio.

  

we stopped for the evening in san antonio to see the town and river walk. the river walk was lovely ... we felt like we got a little taste of europe. we also were able to see the san fernando cathedral.

spring in austin.

 

austin was beautiful. i could not get over how green everything was and how lovely all of their trees were. i also loved walking along the river right next to the city. there were all kinds of kayakers, rowing teams, and bikers. i loved it! if only husband and i would have brought our kayaks along. maybe next year.

downtown austin.

  

husband and i enjoyed many things in austin. stopping by the sxsw interactive nokia lab and nike+. there were food trucks everywhere ... including some free grub. we ate several times at la cafe' crepe not for free but so delicious. we saw a lot of silly things driving in austin ... one was a giant plastic owl on top of a truck. while looking for a place to have lunch i stumbled upon some amazing graffiti. the sun finally came out. husband and i splurged on dinner out at Z Tejas Southwestern Grill.

road trip to austin.

  

here are a few of our photos from the road. it was pretty chilly on the way down with lots of rain. i was really worried we were going to miss the beautiful austin sunshine. but by the third day we were blessed when the clouds and rain passed. thank goodness! we started a great book "rich like them" by ryan d' agostino. a very enjoyable and captivating book. we'd recommend it!

flowers for your weekend.

husband and i visited the myriad botanical garden in oklahoma city last weekend. this is a photo from that visit ... more photos next week. this weekend husband and i plan to lay low. maybe look at houses and go for a long bike ride. what are your plans? have a lovely weekend! next week will be all about our trip to austin and sxsw.

date night.

we tried out a new restaurant (brix & stone gastropub). it was delicious! we also stopped by crescent moon for a little music, mocha, and hot chocolate. we were happily surprised with music by c. a. waller, a local blues musician.

no recipe today. just a restaurant recommendation if you are ever in downtown austin. le cafe' crepe is amazing. husband and i went twice while down there last week for sxsw. the top photo is their vegetarian and bottom is their la cannelle. delicious!!

glen hansard meeting van.

what would it be like to meet van morrison? well pretty awesome, obviously. i just came across this interview of glen hansard describing his encounter with van ... lucky guy. speaking of glen hansard ... i was lucky enough to see him perform live at sxsw last week. it was amazing! more on sxsw next week. is there anyone you dream of meeting?
